The Grand Traverse, Queenstown, New Zealand

So we woke up the other night to one of the most beautiful views anyone would see. Huge white-caped mountains (think Lord of the Rings) and a sunrise.
We just finished off a 6 day / 6 night hike through Fiordlands National Park on the southern part of New Zealands southern island.
The afternoon of the 13th was spent rowing with Brooke out into Lake McKeller to some amazing views of the local waterfall and surrounding hills (also a cold dip in the water by Tommy).
The morning of the 14th started what was the greatest walk (among greats) thus far. It was a clear and crisp walk around Lake McKeller (Brooke took lots of pics). After a walk through a tame swamp and more bush (New Zealand for trees/forest) we then took a pre-lunch hike to Key Summit. This peak acted as the connecting point to 3 different valleys and provided our first views of the Darien Mountains and a number of other snow peaked mountains. After lunch we hiked up to Earland Fall (named after an Aussie, though everything else seems to have a Scottish name). Here we spend a good 45 mins enjoying the falls and the views, but not before Brooke striped (just to her undies) and was the first of our group (15 people) to brave the cold pond at the base of the falls. Tommy was in shortly after, but out before he caught his breath. The most entertaining portion of the day came when the rest of our crew started jumping in to the frigid pond as well. Details can't be shared here, but they included little to almost no clothes on people that we thought were perhaps a little to proper or shy to do what they did. Good times!
We are in Christchurch, NZ now, flying to Auckland tonight, and then flying to Cairns, Australia tomorrow for a week on what the Kiwis call their Western Island.
Pics to come soon.
Love, Tommy and Brooke
